18 Bikes Custom Frames/Framebuilding
|
Matt's been managing more and more time in the workshop, getting more details nailed and finalising some standard features we'd like to offer.
We're not ready to launch or take orders just yet -there's a few little bits holding us back, but we're aiming for early in 2010. We've got some details to nail with Reynolds/other tubing and parts manufacturers, along with some testing to see how far we can beat the stringent new CEN standards by.
What we already know:
- Frames will be built, by ourselves, in the Peak District, under the Eighteen name, using top tooling from Miller, Anvil among others!
- Steel MTB hardtails to begin with, then other ideas.
- Geared/Rohloff/SS/whatever
- Main work will initially be TIG welded, with fillet/lug work to follow
- Tubing from Reynolds and others, parts from Paragon etc..
- We'll offer lots of custom options, geometry, tubesets, dropouts and finishing touches.
- Tough powdercoat finishes from Windridge Coatings
What we're not sure of/finalised:
- Price (sorry, there's a lot to do with the cost of tubes etc - certainly more than a Cotic!)
- Timing - but we're doing our best.
This page is here to act as a little general info, before we launch. Best bet is to keep an eye on the websites/sign up to the newsletter on the shop site - we'll certainly be following up on this! There's also now a section of photos on our Flickr site!
We've got a sample frame (built up as a bike) which is going with us to the 2009 Cycleshow - if you're there, pop by for a look!
